Our History In Vibration Measurement & Acoustics

Prosig was established in 1977 by members of ISVR (Institute of Sound & Vibration Research) at Southampton University. The company’s goal was to provide customers with the best available hardware and software for noise and vibration measurement.

The existing UK headquarters, in Fareham UK, were completed in 1982 and Prosig USA, Inc. was founded in 1986. In 2001 an engineering center was opened in Detroit to provide high quality support to customers in the area.

In 2014 Prosig became part of Condition Monitoring Group (CMG) Limited. The combination of Prosig’s expertise & heritage and the technologies & knowledge in CMG has led to significant advantages to our existing user base and to new customers.

Prosig maintains a network of partners to support business in Europe, North America, India, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and South America.

The company vison has always been focused on producing reliable, high quality, integrated measurement solutions that allow our customers to achieve best practice by using the latest tools available to the test engineer.

Prosig founded by Dr Colin Mercer and staff from Institute of Sound & Vibration Research (ISVR) at the University of Southampton 

Derby (UK) office opened
Bristol (UK) office opened
Prosig USA Inc founded

First US office opened in New Jersey

Office opened in Michigan, USA

Engineering support & sales office opened in Michigan

Prosig joins Condition Monitoring Group

CMG & Its Brands : 1974 - Present

DJ Birchall incorporated

DJ Birchall Ltd founded by Don Birchall

Prosig & Helitune incorporated (independently)

Prosig and Helitune were founded, completely separately, in 1977

Beran incorporated

Beran Instruments Ltd founded by Andy Lobato

Semia incorporated
Joint venture - Beran & Helitune
Beran acquisition of Helitune
Formation of US & German businesses
CMG formed & SEI acquired

Condition Monitoring Group (CMG) formed to organise growing portfolio and SEI (Chicago) joins the group

Formation of Italian subsidiary & Prosig acquired

Helitune SRL formed in Bologna and Prosig join the group

Expansion of Torrington site
CMG acquisition of Semia (France)

Following a long partnership with Helitune, Semia (France) joins CMG

CMG acquisition of DJB Instruments

DJB Instruments (UK), originally DJ Birchall Ltd, joins the group

CMG becomes CMTG

CMG rebranded to Condition Monitoring Technology Group with new branding across the group
